THE KINSEY SCALE RELEASE CELEBRATION – SCAVENGER HUNT POST 6

Life is good for Eric Brown, a happily single theater major with a great group of friends. But then Will Butler—fellow senior, co-RA, and the cutest guy Eric’s ever seen—walks into his dorm. Will has a sweetheart he sees off campus—a minor disappointment that becomes a major problem when a housing shortage causes Will and Eric to become roommates, and Eric is forced to witness Will’s hotness day in and day out. He persuades his ex-boyfriend to pretend they’re still together in a vain attempt to protect himself, but it doesn’t save Eric from losing his heart.

Will Butler has never believed in himself. Although he’s loved music since childhood, he’s never seriously considered pursuing it. Then he and Eric Brown become roommates, and everything changes. Eric believes in Will and his talent. He’s also gorgeous and playful and fast becoming Will’s best friend. And that’s not good, because Will is hiding some big things, not only from Eric, but from himself.

Hi All! Welcome to Post 6! The Kinsey Scale releases on May 8! Read the post and save the clues (any words or phrases in bold and italic) to play!

This interview with Eric and Will takes place at some point after they’ve finally gotten through their lies and misunderstandings. Picture them sitting cozily in their pushed-together dorm beds as they talk about their childhoods.

What’s your best childhood memory?

ERIC: The first Halloween I can remember. I was probably around 4 or 5. I got to pick out my costume. Major thrill! It was so exciting to me to play dress up that I’ve been doing it ever since.

WILL: Yep. That’s you, all right. I can totally get why you became an actor. What did you go as?

ERIC: A vampire, of course.

WILL: Although this year you were more like a sexy devil.

ERIC: Sexy? Why, thank you!

WILL: You know you were. And you know it was driving me crazy.

ERIC: That’s the sad thing. I didn’t know until much, much later. But we’re getting off topic. What’s your favorite childhood memory, Will?

WILL: I don’t have one specific memory, but what I loved most as a kid was going camping and being out in nature.

ERIC: Yeah, I remember you talking about being in Boy Scouts.

WILL: Exactly, and Cub Scouts before that.

ERIC: Which all fit perfectly for a closeted Southern boy.

WILL: I had to get my macho from somewhere. But, seriously, I thought it was so cool to have a campfire and sleep outside, and learn about the stars and stuff.

ERIC: Did you tell scary stories?

WILL: Sometimes. We liked to freak ourselves out. Like this one time we were staying on someone’s farm and we were sleeping in the barn. Someone told a story about this psycho slowly and silently creeping up on us—

ERIC: Stop! I’m getting scared already.

WILL: Wuss.

ERIC: You know it. If we ever go camping, don’t tell me any ghost stories, mmkay?

WILL: Sure.

ERIC: But will you bring your guitar and play for me?

WILL: Only if you sing for me.

ERIC: Deal.

Tomorrow is the LAST Scavenger Hunt Post, Post #7! I’ll be talking about the Campus Connections series, of which The Kinsey Scale is the first story. I’ll interview Eric and his friends Jerry and Tyrone who each get a book, and ask them what romance means to them.

Then you’ll have all your words/phrases and can start writing your story!

Go to the Rainbow Readers Club and the Scavenger Hunt Master Post for directions and post links.
